Guerrila Marketing never looked so good…

Hello there again!

Tried to do any marketing recently?

I’ve been trying A LOT.

I’ve sent out leaflets, emailed out fancy flyers, put up posters and sent out COUNTLESS emails!

But did any of it ACTUALLY work?!

No.

Why?

The simple (and honest) answer is that people are so GOD-DAMN BORED with traditional marketing (AKA emails, flyers, leaflets etc) that they just go into automatic switch-off mode.

But this shouldn’t really be too much of a shock to you.

I mean, think about the last flyer that fell onto your  poor, unassuming doormat… what happened to it?

Did you read it?

Did you visit their website?

Did you call them?

And did you email them?

HECK NO!

It went straight in the bin with the rest of them!

Now what does that tell you?

TRADITIONAL MARKETING DOES NOT WORK.

So  what else is there?

The answer – Guerrila Marketing.

This type of marketing is essentially disruptive, targeted, fairly cheap, hit-them-when-they-least-expect-it type stuff.

Customers largely respond better to this typa’ marketing because they don’t feel hounded and are more susceptible to selling pushes.

It has been shown that it produces more positive brand associations and welcoming messages from your brand as opposed to annoying, intrusive “hard selling” shown by most companies.

But what kinda marketing does this involve? What ideas WORK?

Well, try googling “guerrila marketing” and see what comes up for a start. Then I highly suggest you read Guerrilla Marketing: Cutting-edge strategies for the 21st century

So now all that lame-ass explaining is done… lemme give you some ideas to take away and do RIGHT NOW.

  1. Send a hand-written letter to your top customers you want to do business with (hand written envelopes and letter always get read because people know someone has taken the time to hand-write it so are more inclined to give them to time to at least read it + it’s less official so looks less like advertising/marketing/that daunting tax reminder letter)
  2. Send a message in a bottle instead of a flyer – it gets the target more engaged as its quite old fashioned and no-one does this yet!
  3. Drop a  PLAIN USB stick with 1 pre-loaded advertisement file on it through peoples front doors/shop pigeon holes. People always use USB sticks to hold their important files and transfer stuff so they know it’s something valuable and quite personal. If you drop it through their door, they begin to question who’s it is and what’s on it. 9 times out of 10 they will load it onto their pc and open up the one file on there (because people JUST CANT HELP THEIR NOSEYNESS!) BAM! They now have picked up your ad material, taken the time to load it, got all pepped up and excited about it, read your article/ad, and will probably continue to use that USB as it’ll be handy for them! Success! Brand recognition, positive association as you have been creative with the idea, your target has read your ad (more than most flyers get) AND you may even get a sale out of it! (be sure to include hyperlinks to your site as they are already on the pc, what a great way to get them to your site and BUY?”)

Hope this sparks some ideas. Be sure to check out this site!

Hope you learnt something!
